Reggie Wayne agrees to one-year deal with Patriots, reports say

Aug. 24--Reggie Wayne has caught passes -- lots of them -- from Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.

As if that weren't enough for any NFL wide receiver, it appears the future Hall of Famer will get to add another one of the league's best quarterbacks to that list: Tom Brady.

Wayne has agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots, according to multiple media reports on Monday. ESPN was the first to report the deal.

The 14-year veteran has played his entire career in Indianapolis, winning a Super Bowl ring, making six Pro Bowls and playing in more Colts games than anyone in team history, and is second only to Marvin Harrison in career receptions (1,070) and receiving yards (14,345).

His 1,070 career receptions are second-best in Colts history and seventh all-time in the NFL; his 14,345 receiving yards also are second-best for the Colts and eighth all-time in the league.

But Wayne struggled with injuries in the second half of last season and was not re-signed by the Colts when he became a free agent this off-season. After having surgery to repair a torn biceps, he was said to be unsure about whether to continue his career.

In July, he said he wanted to put off retirement just a little bit longer.

"I'm going to give somebody a good 365 days," Wayne said at the time. "One year. That's what I'm looking for."
