DETROIT _ The Pistons' youth movement keeps pushing forward.
The roster got another shakeup Tuesday, with point guard Reggie Jackson agreeing to a buyout and planning to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers for the remainder of the season, league sources confirmed to The Detroit News.
Jackson, 29, is in the final year of his five-year contract worth $80 million; he was the longest-tenured player on the roster, having been acquired in 2015 by then-team president Stan Van Gundy in a deadline deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
After playing in the first two games this season, Jackson missed 42 games because of a back injury and returned to the lineup on Jan. 22. In the 12 games since, including eight starts, he's posted 16.6 points, 5.3 assists and shot 39% on 3-pointers, in 28.8 minutes.
Moving to the Clippers enables Jackson to become a facilitator and scorer off the bench, complementing Lou Williams. Paul George, one of the Clippers' centerpieces acquired in the offseason, is a close friend of Jackson.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the buyout agreement.
