Regan Riley points to Norwich City youth success stories after joining from Bolton Wanderers

Regan Riley has pointed to the success stories that Norwich City have had with developing young players after sealing his move from Bolton Wanderers.

The 18-year-old has moved to Carrow Road from the University of Bolton Stadium for an undisclosed fee.

He has signed a three-and-a-half year contract, with the option of an extra 12 months.

Riley has made two senior appearances for the Trotters in his time with the club, making his debut last season against Tranmere Rovers.

He followed it up with an appearance off the bench in the EFL Trophy earlier this season against Shrewsbury Town.

He has now moved to the Canaries and said he is 'buzzing' to begin his time in East Anglia.

Riley will initially form part of the club’s development and academy setup.

And he has pointed to the examples of Ben Godfrey, Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell as giving him confidence that he can develop further at Carrow Road.

He told the club website: “I’m over the moon to finally get the deal done. It has always been a dream of mine to become a professional footballer and I’m buzzing to have signed with Norwich City.

“I’ve heard lots of good things about the club and it looks like a club that I can develop at. The club have a reputation for developing young players and that really excites me.

“I’ve seen the likes of Ben Godfrey, Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell come through the system, so it gives you the confidence and platform to hopefully show what I’m about.

“I consider myself a box-to-box midfielder who’ll work hard for the team.

"I’m also looking forward to developing off the field moving away from Bolton to Norwich. I’m excited and can’t wait to get going.”
