Regan Griffiths admits to Notts County shock after signing new Crewe deal

Regan Griffiths conceded his loan spell at Notts County had "ups and downs" as he ended speculation over his future by signing a new contract at Crewe.

The midfielder spent the latter stage of the season on loan at Meadow Lane having been signed by head coach Ian Burchnall to help cover an injury to midfielder Michael Doyle.

He made 12 appearances in total although many of those towards the back end of the campaign were on the substitutes' bench as Notts missed out on their bid to return to the Football League.

Crewe have now rewarded Griffiths with a new two-year contract as they look to continue his development and reflecting on his time at Meadow Lane, the midfielder said it had highs and lows.

There were ups and downs at Notts County," he said.

"Although I was there for two and half months it was a good learning curve. I had a good time and I can use the experience. I know that when I am left out of the team, I can handle the situation better now.

“When I first went to Notts County, I was shocked how good the league was.

"I went into the Wrexham game after about three days and I told some of the lads afterwards, that I got a bit caught out just by how quick it was. It is a really good level and I had to adjust to it because they were real, competitive games.

“The experience will help me with that and now I want to come back to Crewe and get in the team as quickly as possible and do well.”
