Regan Booty on why he made the right decision to leave Huddersfield Town for the National League

Regan Booty has settled into life at Meadow Lane - and is convinced he made the right decision to leave Huddersfield Town to join Notts County.

Booty left the Terriers, the club he joined as a boy, following their relegation from the Premier League last season to take up the challenge of helping Notts regain their Football League status at the first time of asking.

The skilful midfielder, who has quickly become a fans' favourite at Meadow Lane, with two goals and several assists already this season, said: "You get to a certain stage where you have to go and make a career for yourself.

"I was at Huddersfield for a long time and I have respect for a lot of people there, but sometimes you just have to take that decision to make a change, get away from home and build a career."

Despite producing some impressive performances already this season, Booty has been in and out of Neal Ardley's team, but he recognises that squad rotation is part of the modern game.

"We have a big squad and you have to accept that sometimes you are going to be left out," he said."When I am playing I make sure I'm doing the best I can, or if I am coming on I ensure I am making an impact on the game."

Booty's performances have certainly endeared him to Notts' supporters, and Booty said: "It is good to have the backing of the fans, especially as a team, but it is also nice to hear that support for myself as well.

"It gives me confidence, like when I came on at half-time on Saturday against Hartlepool, I could feel the fans were behind me."
