Refuweegee to remove 'Trump is a jobby' sign from window after Byres Road residents' complaints

Glasgow charity Refuweegee have been told to remove their famous 'Trump is a jobby' sign from their shop window on Byres Road.

Refuweegee, who do incredible work in our city in ensuring "all refugees arriving in Glasgow are welcomed to the city in true Glaswegian style", opened up a base on the west end street earlier this year.

Glasgow jewellery designer Bonnie Bling, one of the city's hand-made jewellery specialists who we have previously featured on Glasgow Live, Tweeted about the situation: "Refuweegee are being told they have to remove our ‘Trump Is A Jobby’ protest sign from their window due to ‘resident complaints.

"Byres Rd, I thought you were better than this!! #protest #freespeech #trump".

Refuweegee have since responded: "Who knew the west had so many Trump fans?! Or folks offended by the word jobby.

"We'll have the sign in the wall inside, come away in and get your photos with it in the warm! #trumpisajobby #fundraising".

Refuweegee founder Selina Hales told Glasgow Live: "We're baffled by the fact there's been a number of complaints! However, it's made for some excellent Twitter conversation about what we should replace the sign with!"

And here are some of the suggestions:

@Rod_Paradise said: "Just sticker a new word over jobby every week, each change frustrates the previous complaints. May I suggest starting with Plampf. Could even take Twitter suggestions each week.", while @markmakeslinks said: "Fannybaws next week, please!"
