Refuse the Hour, Perth International Arts festival

Refuse the Hour
Refuse the Hour Photograph: John Hodgkiss

South African artist William Kentridge returns to Perth festival, following his 2014 installation of The Refusal of Time. The theatrical companion piece, Refuse the Hour interweaves dance, live music, projections, drama and dramatic scenic design.

Kentridge is at the centre of the piece, acting as the storyteller, recounting a tale that begins with the myth of Perseus and ends with Einstein’s visionary findings. Dancer and choreographer Dada Masino moves around Kentridge and the set while singers and musicians play Philip Miller’s riveting score, against Catherine Meyburgh’s video design animations.
