Refugees are welcome, thousands of people have emphatically said at London's migrant solidarity march. The demonstration, organised by Stop the War Coalition, was one of many planned across Europe.
The march began at Marble Arch, where Lib Dem leader Tim Farron delivered a rousing speech in favour of greater number of refugees being given safe entry into Britain.
Thousands of activists replaced the usually congested roads of Central London as the march wound through Green Park and Trafalgar Square before ending up outside Downing Street.

David Cameron’s announcement of 20,000 refugees to be accepted by Britain over the next five years has been met by anger and disappointment; evident from the video above which shows activists chanting “David Cameron, shame on you!”
Newly-elected Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, attended the demonstration, urging the Government to “recognise your obligations to help people which you’re required to do by law.”
“But above all, open your hearts and open your minds and open your attitude towards supporting people who are desperate, who need somewhere safe to live, want to contribute to our society, and are human beings just like all of us.”
