Refugee group appeal for clothes and phone donations to help Park Inn hotel residents

An appeal for donations has been launched to help displaced hotel residents following the Park Inn attack.

The No Evictions Campaign is urging Glaswegians to donate men's and women's clothes, underwear, jackets, hand sanitiser, phones and phone chargers for those in need.

The group tell how residents were "left distressed on the streets for hours" after a knifeman attacked six people at the hotel on West George Street on Friday.

They said those evacuated currently have no access to financial support from the Home Office.

The charity wrote: "People who were shocked and traumatised by the events were left without basic needs such as shoes, adequate food or medicine.

"Over and above practical needs, many of those being accommodated in these hotels have experienced past trauma, so it is absolutely imperative that they are given proper treatment and support for their wellbeing."

Donations can be taken to the Unity Centre at 22 Ibrox Street tomorrow between 10am and 4pm. Call 0141 427 7992 if you have items to drop off another day.
