This book is about a fourteen year old boy named Alem Kelo, who is half Eritrean and half Ethiopian. These two countries are fighting against each other; therefore, Alem and his dad travel to England and attempt to get refugee status. One day, Alem’s dad goes back to Africa to sort some things out so Alem finds himself alone in a new country with no one that he knows. This book is about how Alem deals with the difficulties that he comes across.
I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 10 because Benjamin Zephaniah has created a very interesting plot, which does not allow the reader to put the fantastic book down.

I have heard of Benjamin Zephaniah, but only for his famous poem, Talking Turkeys. However, I did not know that he wrote stories. I was amazed at the detail he provides to the reader, which allows them to have a clear picture of the scenes.
