REFORM UK’s deputy leader is now being investigated by a Westminster watchdog for allegedly failing to declare an interest in Israel.
Daniel Greenberg, the standards commissioner, has launched an investigation into Richard Tice, lumping even more pressure on the party amid a scandal over donations.
According to the commissioner's website, the investigation was opened on July 28, last Tuesday.
Tice has since claimed the investigation relates to a complaint over “whether I should have referenced my register of interests at the start of a debate on UK democracy and Israeli influence”.
Without naming the group he was referring to, he wrote on Twitter/X: “Contrary to garbage in media: Standards Commissioner is considering complaint by anti semitic anti Israel lobby group over whether I should have referenced my register of interests at start of a debate on UK democracy and Israeli influence.
“The same anti Israel group failed to notify Commissioner that Ayoub Khan MP did not declare his substantial donation received from a pro Palestine group. Funny that…..”.
It comes after Reform UK leader Nigel Farage stepped down to contest the upcoming Clacton by-election amid a scandal over his own donations and two of his own Westminster standards investigations.
