
Illuminated at night, cherry blossoms in full bloom are reflected off the new acrylic stage of the Miidera temple in Otsu. Last year, the night-time viewing was canceled, but this year, visitors were allowed for the first time to enjoy the cherry blossoms from the Kangetsu Butai (moon-viewing stage), where the clear acrylic floor reflects the blooms like a mirror. The 1,300 cherry trees will be illuminated from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. through April 11.
