The Oakland Raiders played their final home game at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Sunday before next season’s move to Las Vegas, so it was only fitting that the game provided the football world with one last memory from the Oakland “Black Hole.”
And by that, I mean someone attended the game equipped with a laser pointer and shined it at players.
At some point during the Raiders’ game against the Jaguars, referee Brad Rogers had to go on his microphone to tell the Oakland fans to stop pointing lasers at players. We didn’t see a specific instance of lasers getting shined at anyone, but evidently Rogers took notice to it.
The warning went like this:
It’s better if you imagine Dr. Evil saying it.
This wouldn’t be the first time Raiders fans have dabbled with lasers either. During the 2016 Texans-Raiders game in Mexico City, then-Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler had a laser pointed at his eyes in an attempted distraction.
It’s unclear if these fans in Oakland listened to Rogers, but the lasers didn’t stop Jacksonville from scoring the go-ahead touchdown in the final minute. The Jaguars won, 20-16.
