Referee James Linington to return for Bristol City match after Leeds United blunder

Referee James Linington will not officiate a match in the Championship this weekend after sending off Leeds United's Gaetano Berardi against Millwall.

That erroneous decision was overturned by the Football Association on appeal, after the Swiss defender was dismissed just 16 minutes into Leeds' 2-1 defeat against Millwall prior to the international break.

As a result, it has now been announced that Linington will not take charge of a match in the Championship this weekend - but will make his return during Bristol City's clash with Charlton Athletic next week.

His next match is the clash between the Robins and the Addicks on Wednesday October 23, where he will be under the microscope after his high-profile error last time out.

Graham Scott is the man in the middle for City's hosting of Luton Town this weekend, with Neil Davies and Derek Eaton serving as his assistants for the clash.

For the clash with Charlton next week, Linington will be assisted by Steven Meredith and Robert Merchant, with Kevin Johnson acting as the fourth official for the match.
