Referee for Hibs' Betfred Cup semi-final v St Johsntone confirmed

Nick Walsh will take charge of Hibs’ Betfred Cup semi-final against St Johnstone.

It will be the first time Walsh has been in charge of a final four encounter.

Jack Ross’ team take on the Saints at Hampden on Saturday for a place in the final against either St Mirren or Livingston, who play on Sunday.

Walsh has reffed Hibs 17 times in total, and the Easter Road club have won eight, drawn five and lost four of those encounters.

In 16 matches so far this campaign, the whistler has awarded 42 yellow cards, four reds and pointed to the spot seven times.

He’ll be assisted at the national stadium by Callum Spence and John McCrossan, with Colin Steven acting as fourth official.

All four will be aided by the Hawk-Eye goal system, which will be deployed to ensure there is no doubt over whether the ball crosses the line or not.

The system was put to the test during the Scottish Cup final between Hearts and Celtic for Stephen Kingsley’s equaliser, and has now been rolled out for the League Cup semis.

Kick-off is 5.30pm and the match is being broadcast live on Premier Sports.
