All-Ireland final referee David Gough gave the green light to David Moran and Tommy Walsh’s ‘lineout lift’, it has been revealed.
Right at the end of the drawn tie on September 1, Dublin’s Dean Rock had a free to win the game and though it drifted wide, Tommy Walsh was prepared to lift his Kerry teammate Moran rugby-style up and over the crossbar if required.
Moran’s father ‘Ogie’, explained: “Both of them have been to Australia [with Sydney Swans] so maybe that's where the thought came from. And they played for the same club all their lives and they're big lads anyway.
“They said it to the ref. The referee said, 'I have no problem with it'.”
