Referee appointment provides good omen for Nottingham Forest ahead of QPR clash

Nottingham Forest resume their Sky Bet Championship this weekend, as they take on Queens Park Rangers at the City Ground.

The Reds go into the contest in fifth place in the Championship standings, after being held to a 2-2 draw with league leaders West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side still have ambitions of achieving automatic promotion to the Premier League, and are four points outside the top two with 13 league matches left to play.

QPR are in 16th place in the Championship, and have picked up four points from their last two matches against Stoke City and Swansea City.

Ahead of the game, the EFL have confirmed that Robert Jones will be the referee for Saturday’s match on Trentside.

Jones will be assisted by Ian Cooper and Philip Dermott, while Rob Smith will work as the fourth official.

This will be Jones’ third Forest match that he has refereed this season, with the last being the Reds’ 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff City in November.

That loss is Forest’s only defeat with Jones in charge of proceedings, with the Reds picking up four wins and two draws in the remaining six.

Jones was also in charge of Forest’s 1-1 draw away at Leeds United in August, where Lewis Grabban bagged a late equaliser at Elland Road.

He has also been in charge of some other memorable Reds matches, including last season’s 1-0 win over Derby County and 5-5 draw with Aston Villa.
