Referee announced for Tottenham vs Crystal Palace - and it's great news for Mauricio Pochettino

The referee for Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace this weekend has been announced.

And it's fantastic news for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as he looks to mastermind a first win for the Lilywhites since the opening weekend of the new campaign.

Craig Pawson will be in charge of the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and when he’s referee Spurs usually win.

That's with the exception of last season's loss away at Bournemouth when the north London outfit lost 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium and were also reduced to nine-men.

Before that, Spurs had won six successive games in which Taylor had been in charge of.

Four of which came last season and were all away from home. This includes wins over Leicester City and Manchester United.

The last time Taylor refereed a Spurs home game was on the final day of the 2017/18 season where the hosts came out on top in a nine-goal thriller against the Foxes at Wembley Stadium.

In addition, Tottenham have a brilliant record in the Premier League against the Eagles having won the last eight meetings in a row.

The corresponding fixture last season was the grand opening of the new stadium where Son Hueng-min and Christian Eriksen were on target.

Overall the referee from Sheffield has overseen 17 Spurs fixtures across all competitions ever since his first in February 2014.

This has yielded 10 wins and four losses for the north London outfit.

Some may say he's a lucky charm for Pochettino.

Pawson's assistants will be Ian Hussin and Richard West with Fourth official duty going to Michael Salisbury.

VAR will also be in use at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Jonathan Moss and Eddie Smart being placed in charge of those duties.
