Referee announced for Chelsea's game against Norwich

The refereeing team that will take charge of Chelsea's Premier League game against Norwich has been announced.

The Blues travel to Carrow Road to take on the newly promoted Canaries on Saturday, with Frank Lampard looking to pick up his first win as Chelsea head coach.

A 1-1 draw with Leicester on Sunday meant that the new boss will have to wait a bit longer for his first three points of the season. Wilfred Ndidi's second half header cancelled out Mason Mount's opener in a game of two halves.

Meanwhile Norwich will go into the game on a high after Teemu Pukki's hat trick gave them a comfortable win over Newcastle. Chelsea will need to be on their guard to keep the Finnish striker, who already has four goals this season quiet.

The last time the two clubs met was in the FA Cup during the 2017/18 season. The third round tie went to a replay at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues had to rely on a penalty shootout to see them through to the fourth round after a 1-1 draw.

Martin Atkinson has been named as the referee for Saturday's encounter, and Chelsea's record with him in charge is mixed.

Since 2010/2011 the referee has overseen 37 Chelsea games in all competitions, with the Blues coming out victorious in 18, while losing nine.

The most recent game he officiated saw Chelsea draw 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford. Atkinson was also in charge of Chelsea's penalty shootout win over rivals Spurs in the League Cup semi-final victory last season.

The full appointment of match officials for the game is as follows:

Referee:  Martin Atkinson  Assistants:  Constantine Hatzidakis; Harry Lennard  Fourth official:  Keith Stroud  VAR:  Andre Marriner  Assistant VAR:  Scott Ledger
