Paul Tierney has been confirmed as the referee for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa this weekend.
It will be the first time Frank Lampard’s side will have played in the Premier League since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Chelsea currently sit three points ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table as they battle to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Lampard’s first campaign at the helm at Stamford Bridge hasn’t always been smooth, but his side still have plenty to play for before the campaign concludes.
Tierney will be assisted by Scott Ledger and Mark Scholes, Graham Scott will be fourth official, while Lee Mason will be on VAR duty at Stockley Park.
The 39-year-old has taken charge of two Chelsea matches this season, with both of them coming back in October.
The first saw Lampard’s side run out 4-1 winners against Southampton at St Mary’s, with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, N'Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi all on target.
While the second saw the Blues crash out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Marcus Rashford put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ahead before Michy Batshuayi restored parity just after the hour mark. However, Rashford struck again 17 minutes from time to seal his side's place in the next round.
Tierney has shown 56 yellow cards and three red cards in the 20 Premier League matches he has taken charge of this season.
Overall he's refereed four Chelsea games in the Premier League - and the Blues have won them all.
