Referee and VAR official appointed for Manchester United vs Leicester fixture in Premier League

Martin Atkinson will referee Manchester United's next Premier League fixture when they take on Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday.

United will be looking to return to winning ways in the league after dropping points in their last three outings. The opening day demolition of Chelsea remains the only win of the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

Leicester are the visitors at Old Trafford, but they will pose a different threat to last season when United took six points off the Foxes. Now under Brendan Rodgers, Leicester are currently third with two wins and two draws from their opening games.

Atkinson will officiate the clash, having handed out 16 yellow cards already this season. He is yet to send a player off, and has awarded two penalties.

Ominously, the home side has not won in any of Atkinson's four league games this season, with Arsenal, Bournemouth and Chelsea winning at Newcastle, Aston Villa and Norwich respectively. He also took charge of the North London derby which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Atkinson is yet to officiate United this season, but was in charge of four games last season - the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool, the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace, a 1-1 draw at home with Chelsea, and the 2-1 FA Cup quarter final defeat at Wolves.

Lee Betts and Constantine Hatzidakis will be the assistant referees on Saturday, with Jarred Gillett the fourth official.

Stuart Attwell has been appointed the Video Assistant Referee for the game, with Peter Kirkup his assistant at Stockley Park.
