Ref Watch panel give unanimous verdict on Miovski's penalty appeal vs Celtic

Sky Sports' Ref Watch panel unanimously agreed that Bojan Miovski shouldn't have had a penalty against Celtic on Sunday.

The Rangers forward went down in the box early on in the goalless draw. While the incident was briefly reviewed, no spot-kick was given.

Former English Premier League whistler Dermot Gallagher agreed with the decision of referee Don Robertson and VAR official Andrew Dallas not to award a penalty.

Speaking on Sky Sports News' Ref Watch segment, Gallagher said: "I didn't think it was a penalty.

Former Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd agreed: "He does [get in front of Scales], but he's looking for that," he said. "You can see he's clearly looking for that.

"That was a poor decision from him because if he takes a touch inside, he's got a chance to score a goal.

"He's trying to win a penalty, he's looking for it, and I don't think that one is a penalty."

Speaking immediately after the match, Scales himself issued his verdict on the incident.

The Celtic defender said [Sky Sports]: "I think VAR and everything, I don't think it could've been [a penalty]."

"Even if the ref gave it, I think it would've been overturned.

"You could say it's diving. He initiates contact, so he just has to be careful with that."
