REET: One arrested for taking money, promising good marks

JODHPUR: The SOG arrested a person here on Wednesday for taking money in the name of ensuring good marks to the candidates of REET, scheduled to be held on September 26. He had taken money from many people and was caught by the SOG in a decoy operation.

Jabbar Singh Charan, inspector (SOG) said that a complaint had been received stating that one Manohar Singh has been charging between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh from REET aspirants guaranteeing them good marks in the examination.

“After verification of the complaint, we sent a decoy to him with Rs 50,000 near SN Medical College on Wednesday afternoon. The moment Manohar Singh accepted money from the decoy, we arrested him and took him to the police station,” said Charan.

He said that the accused was being interrogated on what was the basis on which he guaranteed good marks to the candidates and how many persons he had taken money from. SOG have also seized his mobile phone and scanning the call details to ascertain if there was any racket behind his claim.

“We have registered a case under appropriate sections of the Rajasthan Public Examination Act. He is said to have taken money from many REET aspirants. We have initiated investigation into the matter,” said the official.

Meanwhile, Jodhpur has geared up to hold the REET examination successfully. Over 50,000 aspirants are expected to move in and out of the city to appear in examination. Administration has put in adequate arrangements for the smooth conduction of examination at all the centers.

Parallel to these arrangements, various community organisations have also arranged for boarding and lodging of the candidates belonging to their respective communities, who will be arriving in Jodhpur for examination.

All these arrangements have been made according to the facilities available with these communities in view to save candidates from the inconvenience and difficulties after landing in the city. They also have issued contact numbers for these candidates for helping them out and some have also set up control rooms for this purpose.
