Reese Witherspoon style: From her clothing line to Oscar dress, these are the actress' best looks

Reese Witherspoon has an instantly recognizable sense of style - equal parts preppy, Southern, and sophisticated.

In recent years, the Hollywood star has become a production mogul as well as an award-winning actress. Her company Hello Sunshine works to tell women’s stories in TV, film, and online - including the critical smash Big Little Lies, which made its triumphant return to HBO for a second season.

Some of Reese's most iconic fashion moments have taken place onscreen.

Who can forget her bubblegum pink turn as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde? Her Audrey Hepburn moment in Breakfast at Tiffany’s during the Big Little Lies season one finale spurred a whole season of Halloween costumes.

But her best onscreen looks might just be her most underrated ones.

Sweet Home Alabama hasn't exactly aged well (there are Confederate role-playing soldiers), but the looks still transfer to 2019. Many of her dresses, paired with cowboy boots (because of course), could easily be mistaken for Reformation sundresses - or her own brand, Draper James.

Today, Reese's Southern spirit is stronger than ever thanks to her lifestyle brand, Draper James, which Sweet Home Alabama inspired her to create.

“Being in Sweet Home Alabama was a huge turning point in my life. It was when the world realized that I was a Southern girl through and through, and that I was proud of where I came from,” she said in an interview celebrating the movie’s 15 year anniversary.

The film’s colorful, quirkly looks are Alabama inspired - a style Reese says reflects her Nashville roots.

“People wear black to funerals. I didn’t wear black at all when I was young and was only allowed to buy my first pair of black pants when I was 15,” she told the Wall Street Journal when she launched Draper James in 2015. “Our black is navy."

Today, when it comes to her personal style, she’s all about returning to classic Southern looks, which includes matching shoes to handbags and using colorful prints inspired by her upbringing.

On Big Little Lies as the tightly strung Madeline Martha Mackenzie, she's almost as preppy as she is on Instagram.
