Reese Witherspoon sells her Hello Sunshine bookclub and company

Actress-producer-avid reader Reese Witherspoon is selling her media company Hello Sunshine, including her book club, to Blackstone Group. The deal was worth $900 million approximately, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine focuses on women-centric stories. It creates podcasts, audio storytelling, scripted and unscripted TV content, films, animated and digital series. It also includes Reese's hugely popular virtual book club, called Reese's Book Club. It is noted that many of Witherspoon's book club picks were adapted into movies or series, including 'Big Little Lies', 'The Morning Show' and 'Little Fires Everywhere' among others.

The terms of the deal aren't disclosed yet.

'Witherspoon, known for her roles in films such as 'Legally Blonde' and 'Walk the Line', created Hello Sunshine in 2016. She will continue to oversee its day-to-day operations along with members of Hello Sunshine's existing senior management team, including CEO Sarah Harden. Witherspoon and Harden will also serve as board members for the new media company run by entertainment executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs,' reports the Associated Press.
