Reeling In The Years to return as RTE confirms 2010s season

A new season of Reeling In The Years looks set to hit TV screens in 2021 after RTE confirmed its return.

The series, which delves into different years of history at home and abroad with a host of archive footage, has been a favourite among RTE viewers for years.

And the new episodes will treat viewers to a new decade recap of the years between 2010 and 2019.

The previous series of the show featured the years 2000 to 2009 and was broadcast in late 2010. It was expected the new series would
air 10 years later but it did not materialise in 2020.

However, reruns of the series kept countless people across the country entertained throughout the lockdown.

The show, which first aired in 1999, has episodes which showcase years as
far back as 1962.

No official air date has been given for the new season yet but it’s understood details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The new season starting from 2010 will likely have viewers hooked from the start.

It will likely focus on the EU-IMF bailout of Ireland and the effects of the financial crash.

The show will also explore events such as the shock death of legendary broadcaster Gerry Ryan in April 2010.
