Two men have been charged with murder after a young man was stabbed to death at a vigil for a teenage knife victim in south London.

Reece Young, 23, died from a chest wound after he was attacked at a gathering in Croydon in March 2021.

Ronald Kissaka, 34, of Ashburton Road, Croydon, has been charged with murder.

Dwaine Harris, 39, has been charged with murder, escaping lawful custody and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

Mr Young was fatally stabbed as he and friends paid their respects at the wake for 19-year-old knife victim Tai O’Donnell, who died weeks before.

Paramedics battled to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene on Alpha Road.

A special post-mortem examination held on April 1 gave the preliminary cause of death as an incised wound to the chest.

An investigation into the death has been carried out by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

They have confirmed that the vigil for Mr O’Donnell, who died from stab wounds on March 3 2021, was being held when the violence flared and Mr Young died.

Kamila Ahamad, 22, from Mitcham has been charged with murdering Mr O’Donnell.
