Reece Oxford set for West Ham exit with Augsburg loan agreed

Out-of-favour West Ham defender Reece Oxford is set to join Bundesliga side Augsburg on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has been playing with the U23s in east London all season and has repeatedly been told by first-team manager Manuel Pellegrini that he is free to leave the club this month.

The academy graduate, who made his debut under Slaven Bilic at Arsenal in 2015 and has 17 appearances for the Hammers, spent part of last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Asked about the £20,000-a-week youngster this week, Pellegrini said: "He is a player that has already played in the Bundesliga and he has an option to continue improving.

"Going on loan or sell, I think he must do it because he needs experience."

West Ham are unlikely to bring in any deadline day signings without a player moving on first.

A deal has been in place in principle with Chelsea to bring Michy Batshuayi in on loan, though it would rely on Lucas Perez joining Real Betis before the end of the day.
