Reece James red card: Chelsea FC defender sent off for foul and abusive language during England vs Denmark

Reece James' full England debut ended in frustration as the Chelsea defender was sent off at full-time of the Three Lions' Nations League defeat to Denmark at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate's side fell to a first home defeat in two years as out-of-sorts Harry Maguire's sending off was compounded by Denmark star Christian Eriksen scoring a controversially-awarded penalty.

Eriksen's penalty shortly after Maguire received two bookings in 31 wretched minutes were the key moments at an empty Wembley, where Denmark held on for a 1-0 win against visibly-frustrated England.

England were not happy with referee Jesus Gil Manzano's penalty decision, and were further angered by Denmark's time-wasting tactics as the clock wore down in the second half.

With the Three Lions stumbling to a first defeat on home soil since September 2018, emotions flared at full-time, with James shown a red card following an altercation with referee Jesus Gil Manzano.

The Chelsea wing-back - making his full debut for the senior national team - was given his marching orders by the official for foul and abusive language.
