Reece James’ heartwarming message to Chelsea fans

Chelsea academy graduate Reece James has taken to social media to send a message that will bring a smile to Blues’ fans’ faces.

The full-back has broken into the first-team at Stamford Bridge this season after joining the club as a young boy and progressing through the ranks.

The 20-year-old has made 17 appearances in the Premier League under Frank Lampard so far this season, registering two assists.

He started four of the last five league games before the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to the 2019/20 campaign at the start of last month.

The latest on Chelsea's out of contract stars

James, along with his Chelsea teammates and the rest of the population are currently in lockdown and the Blues’ defender has been using the extra time on his hands to reflect on past times.

Taking to Instagram, James posted a picture of himself at Chelsea as a young child along with the caption: “Just a little boy with a big dream.”

The England U21 international spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic where he was awarded the player of the season accolade before returning to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

He made his goalscoring debut in the 7-1 League Cup win over Grimsby Town back in September, a game in which he also got an assist.

In fact the full-back has impressed so much in his debut season that he has been mentioned as a possible option for Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of the delayed European Championships that will now take place next summer.
