Reece James and Ben Chilwell back in pre-season training for Chelsea after injury problems

Reece James and Ben Chilwell are among those who have reported for the start of Chelsea’s pre-season training.

Mauricio Pochettino has now officially started work as the club’s new manager as the Argentine looks to rebuild at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have two weeks to train under the former Tottenham manager at their Cobham base before they then fly out to the United States for their pre-season tour.

They begin their US tour against Wrexham in North Carolina before meeting Brighton in Philadelphia as part of the inaugural Premier League Summer Series.

Chelsea will also play Newcastle in Atlanta and local rivals Fulham in Landover before concluding their trip against Borussia Dortmund on August 2.

Both James and Chilwell suffered injury problems last season but have reported for the start of the Pochettino era.

Young midfielders Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos were also at Cobham, alongside the likes of Raheem Sterling, Thiago Silva, Ian Maatsen, Marc Cucurella and Trevoh Chalobah.

Chelsea have also re-hired former club doctor Chris Hughes in an effort to end their injury problems.

Hughes, who worked at the club between September 2021 and January 2017 before joining Pochettino at Tottenham, has been appointed first-team doctor and will have an overview of the medical department.
