Reece Devine is sure St Johnstone will show the required spirit and hard work to pull themselves out of a sticky situation.
The on-loan full-back made a return - and performed admirably - as the struggling Perth side were comfortably defeated 2-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday evening.
Festive cheer remained absent for travelling fans and the result also signalled a fifth straight defeat in all competitions. Saints still sit bottom of the table.
Now Devine has pointed to two “massive” games for the club - starting with a trip to Motherwell tomorrow afternoon.
Second-from-bottom Ross County then visit McDiarmid Park in midweek.
“I know we’re in a difficult position at the minute but if we show spirit and keep working hard, we know we will get points,” said Devine, who turns 20 tomorrow.
“We have two massive games coming up - Motherwell and then Ross County - so we are now focused on them.
“We’re aiming to get as many points as we can to get back up that table. We have many experienced players in the dressing room.
“The boys are staying positive and, I keep saying it, but our heads are just on the next game.”
Devine’s return marked a first start since September and the Manchester United loanee says he will always be ready to help the team.
“I have been training hard and will always be ready when the manager calls upon me,” he explained. “I always try to do my best.
“I’m staying fit, doing the right things and I got my chance again on Wednesday.
“The last 10 minutes I was cramping up a little bit but I think that is expected. I’ll be alright. All the boys want to play games.”
Goals either side of the half from Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent ensured it was a comfortable night for league leaders Rangers.
“We’re obviously disappointed about the result and we all knew it was a hard place to come,” Devine added.
“We were disappointed to concede just before half-time. That was frustrating when the boys had worked so hard and defensively had done a great job. The boys gave it their all.
“When we did concede, I felt that none of our heads dropped. We kept trying to do the right things.”
