Eighteen of the journalists made redundant by the Dallas Morning News in 2004 are suing the owners, Belo Corp, because their posts were later filled, they claim, by younger journalists. They allege that the News had become "a hostile environment for employees over 40". A Belo spokesman said: "We believe the complaint is without merit and intend to defend against it vigorously."
