It looks like Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis has officially announced his retirement ahead of Super Bowl LIV, to be played between his former team, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Davis, a 36-year-old who played for 14 seasons with four different teams, will hang up his cleats for good, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Davis spent the last four years of his career with the Redskins, where he racked up eight touchdowns with over 1,700 yards receiving.
In 2019, Davis dealt extensively with a concussion that sidelined him for all but four games.
Before coming to Washington, Davis spent 10 years with the 49ers, where he had 55 touchdowns and was named to two Pro Bowls.
