Redskins take Alabama OL Ross Pierschbacher in fifth round

After starting out the 2019 NFL Draft by taking big-name prospects, the Washington Redskins have changed gears into filling out their offensive line, taking Ross Pierschbacher, a center from Alabama with the 153rd pick.

Washington’s affinity with players from the University of Alabama continues, with Jonathan Allen, Da’Ron Payne and Ryan Anderson, among others, already on the roster.

Pierschbacher is a big body that could compete for playing time early in the 2019 season, standing at 6’4″ and 307 pounds.

He started 15 games at center for the Crimson Tide, but is a versatile blocker that can be moved around the offensive line if need be.
