Redskins sign veteran left tackle Corey Robinson

The Washington Redskins have made an effort to shore of the offensive line, signing veteran left tackle Corey Robinson on Friday afternoon.

Robinson’s presence on the line will help in the event that pro bowl left tackle Trent Williams continues his holdout through training camp and into the regular season.

Robinson was brought in to work out with the team alongside former Oakland Raiders tackle, Donald Penn, who was cut from the team for salary cap reasons earlier this season. Robinson will now compete for a starting spot alongside Ereck Flowers and Morgan Moses.

His addition to the team might not make them drastically better in the long run, but Robinson allows the Redskins to service another body throughout training camp and push the competition between young players upfront. If he is able to stay healthy through camp and up until the time the Trent Williams comes back to the team, whenever that may be, he will have done his job.
