Redskins sign TE Richard Rodgers to a contract for 2020

The Washington Redskins seemingly have their starting tight end for the 2020 season now, after reportedly signing Richard Rodgers, who played for both the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers in years past.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Redskins agreed to a contract with Rodgers, who will now be in the same building as his father, Richard Rodgers Sr., who is an assistant coach on the Washington defense.

Rodgers played only eight games with the Eagles over the past two seasons, but in the previous four years, spent with the Packers, he had 13 touchdowns on 120 receptions. Adding Rodgers to the roster will allow the Redskins to use him as a place-holder at the position while they likely look to draft a prospect and groom him in the future.
