Redskins sign ex-Giants OT Ereck Flowers to 1-year deal

The Washington Redskins are apparently in the mood for signing former New York Giants players.

Last week, it was safety Landon Collins and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. This week, one of their former teammates will be joining them in D.C. as the Redskins have reportedly signed offensive lineman Ereck Flowers to a one-year deal.

Flowers, a former first-round pick of the Giants, had a very rocky tenure in New York. Following a promising rookie season, his play declined and eventually, it led to him losing his job to current left tackle Nate Solder.

Flowers was given a clean slate at right tackle to begin the 2018 season when Pat Shurmur took over as head coach, but he was benched early in the season and eventually released.

Flowers was picked up by his former head coach, Tom Coughlin, when he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Flowers eventually took over as their starter, but his struggles persisted and Jacksonville opted not to bring him back in 2019.

With the Redskins, Flowers will have his chance to see if he can win a roster spot and maybe a starting job with a division rival in the NFC East.
