Redskins select Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins with 15th overall pick

The Washington Redskins didn’t do anything fancy yet still had former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins fall in their lap at No. 15 in the 2019 NFL draft.

Haskins, a season removed from throwing for 50 touchdowns with the Buckeyes, arrives as a potential instant starter for the Redskins.

Those Redskins lost Alex Smith and Colt McCoy to injury before trading for Case Keenum. Whether the coaching staff wants to throw the rookie into the fire of the NFC East is something everyone will find out over the course of the summer.

For now, the Redskins hit their biggest need of all over the long-term outlook without losing any future assets to move up in the draft.

The Redskins entered the draft as one of the most unpredictable teams, especially because of the problems under center. Dan Snyder, Bruce Allen and the front office decided to keep things simple by getting lucky with how the order in front of them played out.
