Redskins select North Carolina LB Cole Holcomb in fifth round

After double dipping at offensive line with protecting Dwayne Haskins in mind, the Washington Redskins used the final pick of the 2019 NFL draft’s fifth round to address the defense.

There, the front office grabbed up North Carolina linebacker Cole Holcomb, a 6’1″ and 231-pound prospect known for his speed and instincts.

A former walk-on who moved his way up quickly thanks to his play on special teams, Holcomb is bound for a similar role with the Redskins.

Washington entered the draft with linebacker looking like one of the team’s bigger needs after a few changes along the roster and coaching staff. Holcomb is a high-character prospect with interesting upside.
