Redskins say Josh Norman will remain a backup for rest of season

Josh Norman isn’t cracking the starting lineup for the Washington Redskins again.

Asked about Norman’s status coming out of the loss to the Green Bay Packers, interim head coach Bill Callahan said the veteran will pop up in subpackages but won’t get the nod as a starter, according to Kyle Stackpole of the team’s official website.

The question wouldn’t make much sense were it not for the fact the Redskins dressed Norman over the weekend but he didn’t play a single snap.

Clealry, the Redskins intend to keep giving younger guys in the secondary snaps to make the offseason picture a little clearer. But not giving Norman any snaps at all — if he’s healthy — is an odd development.

We’ll see if Norman indeed gets in any of the remaining games, but it continues to look more like fans have seen the last of him with the team.
