Redskins provide injury updates on Chase Roullier, Geron Christian

The Washington Redskins are taking the slow approach with two of their critical offensive linemen this summer.

Training camp is underway but Trent Williams wasn’t the only offensive lineman missing in action Thursday for the Redskins. Both Chase Roullier and Geron Christian were notable scratches too.

Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post spoke with team officials on the matter: “Update on Roullier and Christian from the team: ‘We are gradually working them in after coming back from offseason surgeries.’
Roullier had shoulder surgery and Christian had surgery on his MCL.”

Roullier is of massive importance for the line going into 2019 after his breakout seasons and the situation the Redskins have in front of themselves thanks to the quarterback battle.

But Christian’s importance shouldn’t go undersold either. He was drafted in the third round of the 2018 draft thanks to his value as a depth swing tackle, meaning he can play either edge. This is especially important because Morgan Moses had nagging issues on the right side last year and Williams’ situation is the big question mark.

For now, the Redskins are understandably taking the patient approach with both.
