Redskins place TE Jordan Reed on injured reserve, ending his season

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Washington Redskins are finally done waiting around on tight end Jordan Reed trying to clear the concussion protocol, as they’ve placed him on the injured reserve, making him ineligible for the rest of the season.

Reed was anticipating a big year before he suffered a concussion in a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. Reed has since been in the concussion protocol, and without practicing in the meantime.

Reed’s future in the NFL is now heavily in doubt, as his lengthened return from this concussion points to troubling signs. Reed has suffered multiple concussions in his NFL career, and many have speculated that he might retire after this latest installment of injury.
