Redskins offer interesting take on OT Geron Christian

On paper, Geron Christian figures to be part of the plan moving forward for the Washington Redskins.

Chrisitan, after all, is a third-round pick from 2018 who has swing capabilities on either edge of the offensive line.

But interim coach Bill Callahan had an interesting response when asked if Christian could get some more playing time over the next few weeks, per Matthew Paras of The Washington Times:

“Callahan is asked if they’ve seen enough from Geron Christian about possibly starting next year at left tackle. His answer was pretty interesting, basically said no. No plan to sit Donald Penn or Morgan Moses either down the stretch to get a better look.”

It’s an interesting comment because it would make sense to see backup players like Christian during what is mostly a developmental stretch.

Whether this stems from Christian’s abilities or simply wanting the best possible line in front of Dwayne Haskins is hard to say. But from the sounds of it, Christian isn’t going to get a chance as a starter to help answer questions about this offseason for the offensive trenches.
