Redskins offensive line ranks poorly in revised standings at PFF

The offensive line has been the most interesting detail about the Washington Redskins throughout the offseason.

So naturally, any time talk about lines around the league comes up, it’s interesting to take a look.

After a few major trades over the weekend, Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus decided to reexamine offensive line rankings and came away listing the Redskins 20th:

This ranking reflects Trent Williams not being in the starting lineup. If that’s the case, they take a big hit as Geron Christian isn’t in Williams’ stratosphere. The second-year tackle earned a 61.5 overall grade on 130 snaps this preseason.

That poor grade for Christian would partially explain why the Redskins are rolling with veteran Donald Penn as starter at left tackle for the time being.

The ranking also speaking volumes about the ripple effect Trent Williams’ presence can have on the entire line. He’s rumored to potentially be coming back soon, so PFF might have to shoot the Redskins up the rankings if he returns.
