Redskins make gambling history by ‘winning’ without scoring a point in ugly loss

The Washington Redskins’ dreadful season continued Sunday when they lost to the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers 9-0 in a rain-soaked affair at FedEx Field that was absolutely brutal to watch.

But here is some good news for any Redskins fans who laid some money down on the hometown team. Or for any gambler who somehow had a feeling about Washington’s chances and put some hard-earned money on the NFC East cellar dwellers – you won your bet even though the Redskins didn’t score a point.

Washington, who were 9.5/10-point underdogs, became just the second team in 25 years to cover a spread without scoring a single point:

And now we know why the Redskins carried head coach Bill Callahan off on their shoulders following the loss/win.

Kidding, that didn’t happen. But still, what a moment for the team and gamblers.
