Redskins linebackers have a tall task ahead of them

The mark of a great team in the NFL is its ability to stand back up after suffering a remarkable blow, be it from a tough loss or injury.

Now is that time for the Washington Redskins, as they look to revamp their linebacking core following the season-ending injury to ILB Reuben Foster.

Both Mason Foster and Shaun Dion Hamilton will be thrust into the spotlight, expected to make a similar impact as the former first-round pick. Hamilton has less experience than Foster, but both are up to the task.

“I’m definitely comfortable, said Hamilton, via Redskins.com. “I mean, a year in the system and just a year being a professional, just learning the ropes and going about how to take care of your body and certain things like that.”

Foster, who is a nine-year veteran, thinks that Hamilton has what it takes to step up when called upon.

“He looks great man,” Foster said. “He had a good intro year last year, you know, he’s been studying really hard and working hard this whole offseason. So, there are big things ahead of him. We got a glimpse of it last year and it’s going to be exciting to see how he develops into his second year.”

With the leadership of Foster, and the added experience that Jon Bostic is expected to bring to the defense, the opportunity for Hamilton to step into a leading role is there for the taking. It’s no small task ahead, but his teammates think that he is up to the job.
