Redskins’ Josh Norman rips Giants GM Dave Gettleman yet again

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman is still sour that while with the Carolina Panthers, Dave Gettleman didn’t think enough of him to keep him around in 2016.

Rather, Gettleman, who is now general manager of the New York Giants, rescinded Norman’s non-exclusive franchise tag after failing to come to a long-term deal and allowed him to walk away freely.

It was a decision that never sat well with Norman, who over-valued himself in the general manager’s mind, and he’s taken several shots at Gettleman over the years as a result.

That continued on Thursday during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show when Norman, speaking on behalf of Landon Collins and Dwayne Haskins, once again put Gettleman in his crosshairs.

“If we have an alliance with that guy,” Norman said. “I think we need to put him on salary.

“They need to protect Dave Gettleman at all costs up in New York, for sure. Protect that man at all costs, because he’s winning for us.”

Gettleman, of course, allowed Landon Collins to walk into free agency unimpeded and then passed on Dwayne Haskins in the 2019 NFL Draft in favor of Duke quarterback Daniel Jones, which has caused quite the stir.

While Gettleman may be rather controversial, he doesn’t play games. Some players have a really difficult time swallowing that pill, which is understandable, but at some point or another you’ve just got to get over it and move on in life.

We all get dumped sometimes and it stings, but clinging on to what was stunts growth. Norman, Collins and Haskins all have an opportunity to come together and make the Redskins at least a second-place team in the NFC East.
