Stop us if you’ve heard this before: the New York Giants have started the season 0-2 and are in need of a serious overhaul before this wave of futility lingers even more.
It’s like a broken record and one fans have become exhausted of, but that’s the reality if you exist within Giants Nation. It’s not a pleasant time — arguably one of the darkest in Big Blue history.
If there’s a single saving grace closing out Week 2, it’s that the Giants have temporarily escaped from the NFC East basement.
Let’s take a quick look at the standings after Week 2:
Dallas Cowboys (2-0)
While it wasn’t a complete dismantling, the Cowboys did away with the Washington Redskins on Sunday afternoon with relative ease. And while the Redskins did put up a little more resistance than the Giants had previously, it wasn’t nearly enough to slow down the already red hot Cowboys. Gross.
Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)
Perhaps the Eagles aren’t NFC East and Super Bowl favorites after all, huh? In what was a turnover filled game, the Atlanta Falcons were able to keep pace with the Eagles and eventually walk away victorious with a little help from a temporarily sidelined Carson Wentz (concussion evaluation).
New York Giants (0-2)
Look, everyone! The Giants aren’t in last place! It’s time to celebrate! Woohoo! This may be a short-lived stop at No. 3, but after finishing dead last in the division each of the previous two seasons, it just feels good to get some fresh air, doesn’t it?
Washington Redskins (0-2)
The Redskins had a chance to defeat the Eagles in Week 1, but in typical Washington fashion, they blew it. In Week 2 against the Cowboys, they had the lead for a few moments, but that wouldn’t last either and Dallas never looked back. It’s likely the Giants and Redskins battle all season in the latest edition of, “Who’s the Biggest Loser.”
