According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Washington Redskins are not intent on trading away left tackle Trent Williams this season, and they plan to do anything they can to keep him in the building and with the team.
Williams, who held out for the 2019 season and declared that he would never play for the Redskins again, has been rumored to have a change of heart as of late and could consider signing a new deal in Washington now that Team President Bruce Allen and head trainer Larry Hess are out of the picture. With a new coaching staff working under Ron Rivera, as well as an entirely new medical staff, Williams could reportedly be open to playing for the Redskins once again.
In order to do so, Washington will have to reach a new contract extension with the seven-time Pro-Bowler, who will turn 32 years old before the 2020 season. When healthy, Williams is one of the top left tackles in the NFL, and he will likely get paid as such.
